Ashland County Busted Mugshots is a private reference resource, not a government office. We cannot confirm custody, release anyone, post bond, or retrieve official booking records. For a jail, police, court, or records question, contact the responsible public office directly.
Official Ashland County Contacts
Start with the office that holds the record sought. The Sheriff and jail handle different aspects of county custody, while an arresting police agency may have the incident report. Ashland County’s official web pages do not publish a verified live roster, so a direct jail question or a focused Open Records request is the appropriate local route.

Ashland County Open Records says most requests receive a reply within ten business days. Its listed fee is $0.25 per incident-report page and $5 for CDs or DVDs. Photographs are a typical request type, but the county does not publish a photo-specific price. Ask the custodian for the expected reproduction or delivery cost for the requested record.
- For a current county-custody question, call Ashland County Jail at 715-682-7050.
- For a releasable booking record or photograph, use the Sheriff’s Open Records process with the person’s full name and the best available event details.
- For an incident report, contact the arresting agency. A Mellen Police matter may begin with the City Hall police contact; a county booking can still require a separate Sheriff request.
- For a later criminal case, use Wisconsin Circuit Court Access and the Ashland County Circuit Court. Court information is not a current-custody confirmation.
- For a person in sentenced Wisconsin state-prison custody, use the Wisconsin DOC offender search. It does not cover ordinary county-jail custody.
- For possible federal custody, use the BOP inmate locator. Immigration detention has a separate ICE detainee locator.
